About Standard Designs

Most of the designs have been developed in accordance with individual client desires, while some have been created as original standard designs for use in multiple projects or residential villages. All designs comply with the building standards of Latvia, and the greatest snow and wind forces of the territory of Latvia have been used for the building strength calculations. Some of the projects, carried out in Norway and Iceland, fully meet the technical building requirements of the Nordic countries.

The importance of reducing heating costs and using renewable resources in the construction and use of buildings is constantly increasing, so older wood house designs are being modernized to meet today’s energy-efficiency requirements, while new projects are created from the ground up with much greater thermal efficiency and possibilities for saving energy resources. By the client’s request, we can modify our standard designs to include any kind of changes in terms of architecture, construction and energy-efficiency. The documentation package of our standard designs includes the architectural and building structure sections with the signatures of a certified architect and building engineer. Where necessary, we also prepare a provisional energy-efficiency certificate.

We harmonize our projects throughout Latvia. Standard designs developed by and purchased from architecture designing bureau GRADOVSKA DARBNĪCA can also be attached to a particular plot of land by any other certified architect of the client’s choice, by concluding a written agreement with the author. For clients outside Latvia, the architectural and building structure sections of the technical design are prepared in English or Russian. For the implementation of the projects, we recommend our partners – manufacturers and builders of high-quality wood houses – with whom we have closely cooperated for several years, obtaining confidence in the quality of their services.
